Reed Spencer

Reed Spencer is an Associate Professor of Music and Department Co-Chair at Taylor University's Music, Theatre & Dance Department. His work focuses on choral conducting, choral literature, and integrating historic worship practices with modern rehearsal techniques. He leads major ensembles and emphasizes musical community, worship through performance, and using music to spread peace and beauty.

His career highlights include directing the Taylor Chorale on international tours to Anchorage (2022) and Cuenca, Ecuador (2023). Spencer combines academic rigor with Christian values, fostering reflection and practice in choral settings while contributing to worship arts education.

Outside academia, he enjoys family time with his children through play and cartoons, and reads fiction, memoirs, and poetry—including works by Wendell Berry.
