Rebecca Silberman is Professor of Art (Photography) at James Madison University's School of Art, Design and Art History, where she also directs the New Image Gallery. She holds BFA (Longwood University) and MFA (Bowling Green State University) degrees.
Her artistic practice explores alternative photographic processes including 19th-century techniques, handmade sensitizers, and miniature constructions. Recent work includes music box sculptures integrating custom mechanisms with narrative themes.
She has exhibited nationally with solo shows at George Mason University, James Madison University, and Artemisia Gallery (Chicago). Her work is held in collections including Capital One and the City of Mesa.
