Dr Rebecca Moon is an NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Child Health at the University of Southampton's Faculty of Medicine, Department of Human Development & Health. Her research focuses on early life programming of musculoskeletal health, childhood bone health, and vitamin D's role in developmental outcomes. She leads the follow-up study of the MAVIDOS trial investigating pregnancy vitamin D supplementation's effects on offspring body composition and bone mineralization.
Current projects include evaluating glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists' impact on musculoskeletal health in adolescents with obesity, supported by Action Medical Research. She collaborates with multidisciplinary teams including Professors Cyrus Cooper and Nicholas Harvey.
Her work bridges clinical practice and population health, with publications in Archives of Disease in Childhood, Bone, and American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. She supervises doctoral student Charlotte Maden and contributes to teaching in pediatric endocrinology.
Dr Moon is affiliated with the Centre for Developmental Origins of Health and Disease and Institute of Developmental Sciences, emphasizing intergenerational health research.
