About
Dr. Rebecca McGee is an Adjunct Professor affiliated with the Department of Plant Pathology at Washington State University's College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences. Her research focuses on the breeding and genetics of pulse crops, including spring-sown and autumn-sown peas, lentils, and chickpeas.
Dr. McGee develops high-yielding, stress-resistant varieties by targeting biotic stresses such as soil-borne pathogens, aphid-vectored viral diseases, and foliar fungal pathogens, alongside abiotic stresses like heat, cold, and drought. Her work also emphasizes enhancing end-use quality characteristics, particularly through biofortification for mineral nutrients.
