Rebecca Fish is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester's Division of Cancer Sciences and a Consultant Colorectal and Peritoneal Surgeon at The Christie Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. She qualified from the University of Manchester in 2003 and completed advanced surgical training with a fellowship in laparoscopic colorectal surgery at St James Hospital, Leeds.
Her research focuses on consensus methodology, outcomes measurement, and patient-reported outcomes in anal cancer and peritoneal tumors. She led the CORMAC project to develop core outcome sets for anal cancer trials and co-chairs the DiSCO study defining prehabilitation standards for colorectal surgery. She is an Associate PI in the SUNRRISE trial evaluating surgical infection prevention techniques.
Key awards include the ACPGBI BJS Prize (2018), University of Manchester FBMH PhD Student of the Year (2019), and the Royal Society of Medicine Normal Tanner Medal (2016). Her work addresses UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health equity and innovation.
She contributes to Cancer Manchester Research Centre and has expertise in surgical oncology, including cytoreductive surgery and heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy. Her recent studies explore outcomes in emergency surgery, postoperative ileus, and regulatory alignment of core outcome sets with FDA/EMA guidelines.
