Rebecca Bestwick

Dr Rebecca Bestwick is a Research Fellow at the Academic Unit of Health Economics, Leeds Institute of Health Sciences, School of Medicine, University of Leeds, which she joined in December 2022.

Research Focus: Dr Bestwick specializes in health economics, with a primary focus on frailty and economic evaluations in elderly care populations. Her research aims to enhance healthcare resource allocation for older adults through rigorous cost-effectiveness analysis of interventions targeting frailty.

Current Projects:

• EFI+: Identifying frailty and determining optimal treatment targets for elderly patients.
• HERO: Home-based Extended Rehabilitation for Older People, evaluating cost-effectiveness of domiciliary rehabilitation services.

Dr Bestwick is an active member of the Health economics Decision Modelling Group. Her clinical background as a former NHS Junior Doctor in primary and secondary care directly informs her applied health economics research methodology and real-world healthcare context understanding.
