Rebecca Amati

Rebecca Amati is a Researcher at the Institute of Public Health, Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, Università della Svizzera italiana (USI). She holds a PhD in Health Communication from USI and has over five years of postdoctoral experience. Her roles include Project Manager for CoPeC (dementia care pathways) and the Corona Immunitas Ticino study during the pandemic. She also contributed to the Science in a Minute YouTube series by the Swiss School of Public Health (SSPH+).

Education: PhD in Health Communication (USI, 2020), dual Master’s in Communication, Management & Health (USI) and Business Administration (Virginia Tech, USA), and a Bachelor’s in Communication Sciences from the Catholic University of Milan (with an Erasmus exchange in Madrid). Early international experience includes a high school year in Texas, USA.

Research focuses on health communication, dementia care, caregiver support, epidemiology, and participatory research. She lectures at USI and SSPH+, where she is also a fellow. Her work bridges academic research with practical applications in public health, emphasizing caregiver support systems and pandemic response strategies.

Key projects include Corona Immunitas Ticino (monitoring pandemic impacts) and cultural adaptation of the WHO’s iSupport program for dementia caregivers. Her publications (2020–2024) analyze pandemic-related health behaviors, seroprevalence trends, and hybrid immunity dynamics.

Professional history includes roles at Clinica Luganese Moncucco (Quality & Communication, 2016–2018) and research collaboration with the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI, 2019–2020).
