Rebecca Abushena

Dr. Rebecca Abushena is a Senior Lecturer in Retail and Doctoral College departmental lead at Manchester Metropolitan University's Business School. She holds a PhD from Alliance Manchester Business School (2010), MSc, and BA Honours. Her research focuses on retail servicescapes, consumer behavior in retail spaces, and festive/leisure atmospheres. Previously, she led the CMDA Retail apprenticeship program with ASDA and McDonald's (2019–2024) and worked as a consultant at Colliers International, advising destinations like the V&A Museum and West Midlands Safari Park on retail strategies.

Teaching includes modules such as Retail Business Portfolio and Negotiated Business Project Advanced at Levels 4–6. She supervises PhD students in retail management, place atmospheres, and consumer behavior. Notable professional roles include Fellowships in Higher Education and Place Management. Current research integrates commercial place management with analyses of retail and leisure environments.
