About
Rayudu Gopalakrishna is a Professor of Integrative Anatomical Sciences at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California. His research focuses on neuroprotective mechanisms, particularly the role of polyphenols, flavonoids, and cell signaling pathways in preventing neurodegenerative diseases and neuronal cell death. He investigates molecular interactions involving laminin receptors, cAMP pathways, and redox regulation in cancer prevention.
Dr. Gopalakrishna explores how natural compounds like resveratrol and green tea catechins modulate protein kinase C activity, inhibit amyloid-beta toxicity, and counteract axonal growth inhibitors. His work bridges biochemistry, neuroscience, and pharmacology to develop therapeutic strategies for Alzheimer's, stroke recovery, and osteoarthritis.
He has received numerous teaching awards including the Keck School of Medicine Master Teacher award (2008) and Excellence in Teaching Certificate (1995). His NIH FIRST Award (1988-1993) supported early cancer prevention research.
