Ravi van de Port is a Lecturer and PhD candidate within the Forest and Nature Conservation Policy group at Wageningen University & Research. He teaches courses including FNP32806 Science and Expertise in Nature and Environment and FNP32806 Science and Expertise in Environmental Conflicts at both BSc and MSc levels, while supervising bachelor's and master's theses projects.
His research investigates the social dimensions of European rewilding through three critical lenses:
- Human-nature conflict dynamics in conservation landscapes
- Social and ecological justice frameworks
- Innovative art-based and qualitative methodologies
As a core contributor to the EU Horizon2020 wildE project (2023-2027), he examines climate-smart rewilding's socio-ecological implications across European contexts. His work bridges environmental policy and social science through interdisciplinary collaboration.
Mr. van de Port actively supervises BSc and MSc students within Wageningen's environmental programs. His current research is embedded in the wildE consortium, connecting academic institutions, conservation practitioners, and community stakeholders across Europe to develop evidence-based rewilding strategies.
