Ravi Radhakrishnan

Ravi Radhakrishnan, MD, MBA, is a Professor in the Departments of Surgery and Pediatrics at The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). He holds leadership roles as Vice Chair of Education, Director of the ECMO Program, Director of the Pediatric Surgery Fellowship Program, and Pediatric Surgeon in Chief. His research focuses on burn injury management, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), hepatic fibrosis mechanisms, and pediatric surgical outcomes. Key projects include studying ECMO in lung transplant patients, sepsis diagnosis after burns, and drug development for fibrosis.

Research interests span thermal burns, ECMO-related outcomes, and molecular pathways in liver disease. Over 90 publications highlight his work in surgical critical care and translational medicine. He leads grants from NIH, Army Medical Research, and other agencies. Awards include the UTMB Research Strategic Pillar badge. Advising focuses on surgical education and ECMO program development.

Lab activities center on ECMO optimization and antifibrotic drug discovery. Collaborations involve NIH-funded studies on burn-induced cardiac dysfunction and sepsis biomarkers.
