Ravi Janardan

Ravi Janardan is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Minnesota. His research focuses on geometric computing and its applications in computer-aided design, biomedical simulation, and machine learning.

• Ph.D. (1987) and M.S. (1985) in Computer Science from Purdue University
• M.Tech (1982) and B.Tech (1980) from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras

His work in geometric algorithms addresses problems in layered manufacturing, spatial query processing, and stochastic geometry. Recent research explores 3D printing optimization and uncertainty modeling in discrete geometric systems.

Recent trends include range closest-pair queries, skyline computation for stochastic data, and geometric optimization under uncertainty. Collaborations span institutions like Stratasys, Inc., and grants from NSF.
