Raushan Alibekova, MD, MPH, PhD is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Nazarbayev University School of Medicine, Kazakhstan. She teaches and mentors within the Master of Public Health programme and conducts research on perinatal mental health, health-services quality and behavioural risk factors.

Research Focus
Dr Alibekova’s work centres on three inter-related domains: (1) perinatal epidemiology, examining how women’s reproductive health and parental behaviours influence birth outcomes and parental mood disorders; (2) health-services research, evaluating patient experience, satisfaction and quality of care in Kazakh hospitals; and (3) health-behaviour surveillance, investigating determinants of salt intake, sun-protection practices and HIV-related knowledge across diverse populations. She employs mixed-methods designs, drawing on national surveys, prospective cohorts and qualitative interviews.
Publication Trends
Across 17 peer-reviewed outputs since 2013, her scholarship has progressed from reproductive-epidemiology cohort studies in Taiwan to large-scale cross-sectional surveys and intervention evaluations in Kazakhstan. Recent work (2022-2025) emphasises mental-health consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, caregiver stress among parents of children with autism, and development of educational frameworks for international public-health curricula.

Teaching & Mentorship
Since 2017 she has taught Principles of Public Health Problem Solving, Social & Behavioural Sciences in Public Health, and Health Education & Health Promotion. She currently supervises MPH thesis projects on mental-health epidemiology, stigma and help-seeking behaviour in young adults, and health-literacy interventions.
