Rashmi Sadana

Rashmi Sadana is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at George Mason University. Her research focuses on urban space, gender, and social mobility in postcolonial India, particularly through the lens of infrastructure and language politics. She holds a PhD from UC Berkeley and has held postdoctoral fellowships at Columbia University.

Her major works include *The Moving City* (2022) and *English Heart, Hindi Heartland* (2012), which explore the Delhi Metro’s socio-political impact and India’s linguistic dynamics. Awards include a 2023 runner-up for the Global Cities Book Award. Sadana has been supported by grants from the NEH, ACLS, and AIIS.

She teaches courses on urban anthropology, ethnographic methods, and South Asian studies. Her research bridges cultural theory with empirical fieldwork, emphasizing marginalized voices in urban development debates.
