About
Dr Rasheda Chowdhury is an Advanced Research Fellow at the National Heart & Lung Institute, Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College London. Her research focuses on the electro-architecture of the myocardium and its role in cardiac arrhythmias. She has affiliations with the ElectroCardioMaths Programme, Centre for Cardiac Engineering, and multiple networks including Cardiac Function and Stem Cell Regenerative Medicine.
Dr Chowdhury holds a PhD from Imperial College London (2011) and prior degrees from Cambridge and Oxford universities. She specializes in linking electrogram morphology to cellular and architectural determinants of cardiac electrical activity, using machine learning to predict electrophysiological abnormalities from clinical data.
- Education:
- BSc Natural Sciences (Pharmacology), University of Cambridge (2003)
- MSc Pharmacology, University of Oxford (2004)
- PhD in Cardiac Electrophysiology, Imperial College London (2011)
Her research interests span computational cardiac modeling, signal processing for electrogram analysis, and translational applications of AI in arrhythmia diagnosis. Notable grants include BHF Project Grants on myocardial architecture modeling and Rosetrees Trust funding for clinical translation of cardiac imaging.
Dr Chowdhury has received awards including the NHLI Post Doc Supervisor Award and has supervised over 15 students. She teaches on the MSc in Cardiovascular and Respiratory Healthcare and leads the Foundations module. Her work bridges engineering and medicine, with a focus on personalized arrhythmia treatment strategies.
- Labs/Teams: ElectroCardioMaths Programme, Imperial Centre for Cardiac Engineering
