Raquel Assis

Raquel Assis serves as Associate Professor and Associate Dean at Florida Atlantic University with dual appointments in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Department of Biomedical Engineering. She leads the Assis research group focused on genomic computational approaches.

Research Focus: Her team develops machine learning methods to analyze structural variations (SVs) including duplications, deletions, inversions, and translocations. Research examines how SVs modify gene expression, protein structures, and molecular interactions to influence evolutionary adaptation and disease mechanisms, with specific emphasis on antibiotic resistance prediction.
