Raphael Zollinger

Raphael Zollinger is a Lecturer of Sculpture at Purchase College, SUNY, and teaches at the Maryland Institute College of Art. He joined Purchase College in 2013. His work bridges contemporary art, technology, and political discourse, focusing on systems of representation and the interplay between objects, images, and memory.

Research Interests: Zollinger explores the breakdown between image/object and art/technology through multimedia projects. His work interrogates surveillance culture, political memory, and the role of the photographic object in digital eras. Projects like Surveillant (2008-9) and Evanescent Tales (2014-16) exemplify his engagement with materiality, time, and collective memory.

Exhibitions/Publications: Works exhibited globally at venues like Lesley Heller Projects (NYC), Gray Contemporary (Houston), and LimLip Art Museum (South Korea). Featured in New York Times, Art Forum, and Sculpture Magazine.

Artistic Practice: Blends sculpture, video, and digital media to address socio-political themes. Recent series Corpus Res critiques cultural assumptions through fragmented body sculptures, while approximations merges digital and historical layers to question memory's materiality.
