Raoul Blin serves as a Research Officer at the Center for Linguistic Research on East Asia (CRLAO), a joint research unit (UMR 8563) of the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (EHESS), the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), and the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations (INALCO). He is based at the Condorcet Campus in Aubervilliers, France.
As Head of Research Team II at CRLAO, Blin leads research on the Formal Syntax and Semantics of Contemporary East Asian Languages, with particular focus on Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Vietnamese. His work contributes to CRLAO's mission as the only European laboratory entirely devoted to East Asian linguistics.
Dr. Blin's research intersects with broader linguistic studies in the Sino-Tibetan language family, as evidenced by CRLAO's involvement in significant projects like the 2019 PNAS publication on Sino-Tibetan origins. His work appears in HAL-Archives Ouvertes, the open archive platform for scholarly publications.
The Center for Linguistic Research on East Asia regularly organizes major academic events including the annual Paris Meeting on East Asian Linguistics (JLAO), the Symposium on Language Contact in Northern China, and specialized workshops on Tibeto-Burman languages, all of which form part of the scholarly context for Blin's research activities.
