Ranko Matasović

Ranko Matasović is a Full Professor of Linguistics at the University of Zagreb since 2004, specializing in Comparative Indo-European Linguistics. He serves as Head of the Chair of Comparative Indo-European Linguistics since 1996 and holds leadership roles at the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, including Vice-secretary of its Philology Department since 2022.

Major publications include a monograph on Agreement Systems (2018) and groundbreaking studies on Latin-Celtic etymologies. He has received prestigious fellowships including the Humboldt (2002-03) and Fulbright (1997-98), plus the Bulcsú László Award (2019) for lifetime achievement in philology.
