Randy Reddick is a retired Professor of Journalism at Texas Tech University's College of Mass Communications, Department of Journalism & Creative Media Industries. His career spans academic roles, including teaching positions at the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism and the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, alongside extensive experience in journalism as a reporter, editor, and executive. He holds a Ph.D. from Ohio University (1991).
His research focuses on media history, communication technology, and their intersections, with notable works like The Online Journalist, translated into multiple languages. Reddick has received awards such as the AEJMC Presidential Citation (2001) and the L.U. Kaiser Innovative Teaching Award (2009, 1995). He has led initiatives like FACSNET and contributed to organizations including the Poynter Institute and Investigative Reporters and Editors.
Teaching specialties include Media Law, Advanced Reporting, Digital Media, and Media Administration. His work emphasizes technology's role in journalism education and news delivery, reflecting his dual expertise in historical and modern media practices.
