Randy Ray serves as the Director of Broadcast Engineering and Senior Lecturer of Media Communication in the Department of Communication within the Sybil B. Harrington College of Fine Arts and Humanities at West Texas A&M University. With over 15 years of industry experience in Nashville, Tennessee, Ray brings real-world expertise to his teaching in audio and video production, media management, and media history.
Ray earned his undergraduate degree in radio and TV from West Texas State University (now West Texas A&M University) between 1980 and 1984. He later pursued a master's degree while teaching at Middle Tennessee State University from 2000 to 2002.
His research interests span broadcast technology, the recording industry, feature writing, and media convergence. Ray's industry background, including working with renowned artists like Garth Brooks and Neil Diamond and designing the university's media facilities, deeply informs his academic work and student mentorship.

Additionally, Ray applied his industry knowledge to design and build the Sybil B.
