Randy Carden

Randy Carden is a Professor of Psychology in Trevecca Nazarene University's School of Arts and Social Sciences. He teaches courses spanning General Psychology, Statistics, Research Methodology, Drugs and Behavior, and the Psychology of Art. Carden guides undergraduate research projects investigating personality, burnout, and psychological responses to the Covid pandemic.

Research interests include psychological correlates of artistic expression, particularly analysis of Vincent van Gogh's writings using linguistic predictors of depression. As a practicing oil painter, Carden bridges artistic practice with psychological inquiry into creative processes.

Professional activities include healthcare research consulting and mentorship of student investigators. Current projects examine masking effects and anxiety dynamics during public health crises.
