Randall W Sadler

Dr. Randall W. Sadler is a Professor of Linguistics and Director of the MATESL/ESL Programs at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He specializes in technology-infused language teaching, with a focus on Virtual Reality (VR), Telecollaboration, and Virtual Worlds. His research explores how these technologies enhance second language acquisition (SLA) and language learning environments. He is also co-owner of the EduNation Islands in Second Life, where he engages in immersive educational projects through his avatar Randall Renoir.

His teaching includes courses on L2 reading/writing, technology in language teaching, and SLA fundamentals. Research interests center on leveraging digital tools to improve language instruction, particularly in virtual environments.
