Randall J. Nelson

Randall J. Nelson is Professor of Anatomy and Neurobiology at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), where he serves as Institutional Official for Animal Care and Use. His national leadership includes:

• President of the Board of Trustees of SCAW (Scientists Center for Animal Welfare)
• Member of the AAALAC Council
• Member of the CITI Program Executive Advisory Committee (since 2010)

Dr. Nelson specializes in animal research ethics and institutional compliance, with extensive IACUC experience including twelve years on the UTHSC committee (three as chair). His work bridges laboratory animal science, regulatory oversight, and research integrity, contributing to NIH study sections and the NRC Institute for Laboratory Animal Research.
