Dr. Randal Clark is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Music at the University of Utah, specializing in jazz saxophone instruction. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Instrumental Conducting with a saxophone performance emphasis and a Master of Music (MM) in Music Education, both from the University of Utah.
His research and professional focus spans jazz and classical performance, music pedagogy, wind ensemble direction, and instrumental conducting. As an active performer and clinician, he integrates practical artistry with educational methodologies.
Dr. Clark's teaching excellence has been recognized through multiple awards:
- Sorensen Legacy Award for Excellence in Music Education (2014)
- Outstanding Music Teacher of the Year, Utah High Schools Activities Association (2015)
- Outstanding Music Teacher of the Year, Utah Music Educators Association (2016)
He contributes to musical leadership as Resident Conductor of the Utah Wind Symphony Youth Ensemble and Music Director of the Canyons Symphony Orchestra. Previously, he taught at Corner Canyon and Jordan High Schools, where his ensembles earned superior ratings in state festivals and won competitions across the western United States.
