Ran Dank

Ran Dank is an Associate Professor of Piano at the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester. Renowned for his virtuosic and intellectually probing performances, he is a leading advocate for contemporary music, often premiering works by composers like Frederic Rzewski, Alexander Goehr, and Marc-André Hamelin. His collaborations with wife Soyeon Kate Lee highlight their commitment to modern repertoire.

Notable honors include top prizes at major international competitions (Cleveland, Naumburg, Sydney, and Hilton Head) and recognition as a Young Concert Artists roster member. Dank’s performances, such as his acclaimed rendition of Rzewski’s The People United Will Never Be Defeated!, have been lauded as among the top performances of the year. His mentors include Emanuel Ax and Richard Goode.
