About
Ramya Anche serves as an Assistant Research Professor at the University of Arizona, specializing in astronomical instrumentation with expertise in polarization modeling and optical systems for next-generation telescopes.
She earned her Ph.D. in 2020 from the Indian Institute of Astrophysics in Bangalore, India, following which she held research positions at the National Astronomical Observatories of China (NAOC) in Beijing and the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) in India.
Her core research spans Polarization modelling, Optical Polarimetry, Optical design and analysis, Adaptive optics, and High contrast Imaging. She developed and verified critical polarization models for the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) and India's Multi-Application Solar Telescope (MAST), and contributed to the Wide-Area Linear Optical Polarimeter (WALOP) instrument through the PASIPHAE collaboration. Her work bridges theoretical modeling with practical instrumentation for ground-based observatories.
Dr. Anche actively engages in astronomy outreach and science communication, with a dedicated focus on designing citizen science projects to democratize astronomical research and public participation in space science.
