Ramon Luzarraga is an Associate Professor and Chair of Theology and Religious Studies at Saint Martin's University's College of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on ethics, moral theology, and the inculturation of Catholic religious practices in diverse cultural contexts, including Hispanic and Caribbean theology. He holds a Ph.D. in Systematic Theology and Ethics from Marquette University (2006), an M.A.R. from Yale Divinity School (1994), and a B.A. in Political Science and Theology from Fordham University (1991).
His work engages political theology, the thought of St. John Henry Newman, and ethical questions within religious development. Luzarraga has published in refereed journals such as the Newman Studies Journal and holds leadership roles in academic organizations, including Vice President of the Academy of Catholic Hispanic Theologians of the United States and Board Member/Treasurer of the International Network of Societies of Catholic Theology. He has also served on boards for the Society of Christian Ethics and the Theological Education Committee of the American Academy of Religion.
