About
Ramin Hasani is a PhD research assistant in Computer Science at TU Wien (Vienna University of Technology) and the co-founder & CEO of Liquid AI. In 2024 he was selected as a TED Fellow, giving multiple TED and TEDx talks on liquid neural networks and brain-inspired AI.
Research Interests:
Hasani’s work centers on liquid neural networks—a new class of AI systems that remain adaptable after training, inspired by how biological neurons communicate. He seeks to create interpretable, transparent, and robust AI agents that can govern complex real-world tasks with far smaller model sizes and lower energy footprints than today’s large-scale systems. His research blends neuroscience, dynamical systems theory, and machine learning to advance both theoretical understanding and practical deployment of AI.
Across his TED and TEDx talks delivered at venues such as TEDxMIT (2022), TEDxCluj (2019), TEDxVienna (2018), TEDxBoston (2023) and TEDAI Vienna (2024), he has showcased how insights from the 302-neuron nervous system of C. elegans can inform the design of minimal yet powerful AI architectures that address challenges of interpretability, fairness, accountability, and environmental sustainability.
Labs, Teams & Entrepreneurship:
As co-founder and CEO of Liquid AI, Hasani leads an entrepreneurial team translating liquid neural-network research into industry-grade AI products aimed at finance, robotics, and other high-stakes domains. His dual role bridges academic discovery at TU Wien with commercial innovation at Liquid AI.
