About
Raman Singh is the Associate Dean of Engineering at Oklahoma State University-Tulsa and holds the C.F. Colcord Professorship in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. He leads research in experimental mechanics, advanced composites, and polymer-derived ceramics. His work focuses on material durability under environmental stress, nanocomposite reinforcement, and ceramic fuel development.
Education includes a B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur (1990), M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island (1992 and 1995, respectively). He has received awards such as the Promising Inventor Award (2003) and NASA recognition (1997).
Research interests span polymer nanocomposites (e.g., epoxy-clay systems), silicon carbide ceramics via polymer pyrolysis, and graphene-enhanced materials. Recent studies address environmental degradation mechanisms, interfacial mechanics in composites, and neutron shielding composites for nuclear applications.
He teaches MAE courses including Mechanics of Advanced Composites (MAE 5503). Professional memberships include ASME, SEM, and ACerS. His lab focuses on nanomechanical characterization, inverse analysis techniques, and sustainable composites from recycled materials.
