Professor Ram D. Gopal is a Professor of Information Systems and Management at Warwick Business School (WBS), University of Warwick. He previously served as Head of the Department of Operations and Information Management at the University of Connecticut (2008–2018), where he pioneered the Master of Science in Business Analytics and Project Management and an undergraduate Business Data Analytics program. His research focuses on big data analytics, health informatics, financial technologies, information security, and the economics of digital goods.
Professor Gopal holds the distinction of being an Information Systems Society Distinguished Fellow. His work spans interdisciplinary areas including predictive analytics, online market design, and the societal impacts of technology. He currently serves as a Senior Editor for Information Systems Research and has held editorial roles in multiple journals.
His recent research explores topics such as dockless bike-sharing’s medical resource impacts, urban noise regulation via home-sharing, data market mechanisms, and ethical AI in sentiment analysis. He contributes to both academic and industry discussions through articles in Production and Operations Management, MIS Quarterly, and PNAS Nexus.
Prof. Gopal teaches modules on Digital Finance, Blockchain, Cryptocurrencies, and Generative AI Applications across multiple MSc programs at WBS. His collaborative work with industry partners addresses AI bias in investment management and proptech innovations.
