Ralph Heidl

Ralph A. Heidl is an Associate Professor of Management at the University of Oregon's Lundquist College of Business, specializing in collaborative networks, innovation management, intellectual property strategy, and technology entrepreneurship. He holds a PhD from the University of Washington (2010) and an MS from Pennsylvania State University (2000). Prior to his academic career, Heidl worked in Germany as a product manager and development architect for Fortune 500 companies, focusing on mobile and collaborative software design.

Heidl's research centers on organizational collaboration, inventor networks, and the strategic use of intellectual property. His work with wearable sensors and tensor decomposition techniques explores dynamic relational variables in teams. Recent publications highlight alliance portfolio strategies, non-human agency in organizations, and the role of network structures in leadership emergence.

His awards include the 2024–2025 Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award from the Lundquist College of Business. Heidl serves as coordinator for the Management PhD Program and contributes to the Oregon Executive MBA. His collaborations span departments and institutions, including work with John R. Hollenbeck, Andrew Yu, and Michael Howe on team dynamics and network embeddedness.
