About
Ralf Weber is a Lecturer in Data Science and Computational Metabolomics at the Biosciences Centre for Environmental Research and Justice. His research focuses on metabolomics, mass spectrometry, and computational toxicology with applications in environmental risk assessment and chemical safety. He has been involved in collaborative projects such as PrecisionTox (EU-funded) and MATCHING (CEFIC), aiming to advance chemical grouping methodologies and alternative testing strategies. As Principal Investigator of the ExCell project (Innovate UK), he leads efforts to develop cell-based alternatives to long-term animal testing using fish models.
- Key projects include:
- - PrecisionTox: New Approach Methodologies for Chemical Safety (EU)
- - MATCHING: MetAbolomics ring-Trial for CHemical groupING
- - UK Consortium for Metabolic Phenotyping (MAP UK)
His research outputs (53 papers, 10+ projects) emphasize cardiac microtissue models, metabolomic profiling, and in vivo toxicity testing. Collaborations span institutions globally, with notable work on drug-induced cardiotoxicity and pediatric cardiac surgery outcomes.
