Ralf Adelmann

Prof. Dr. Ralf Adelmann serves as a Professor in the Media Theory and Media Culture research group at the Institute for Media Studies, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Paderborn. His office is located at Pohlweg 55, Room E2.357, Paderborn.

His research centers on virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) within media theory frameworks, with emphasis on digital media environments and web-based information systems. He actively leads the university-wide VR@UPB initiative to establish a central VR team for interdisciplinary research and technological integration.

Teaching responsibilities include courses such as Web-based Information Systems, Media Environments, and Media Theories of Virtual and Augmented Reality, bridging theoretical media studies with practical VR/AR applications. Current projects focus on building institutional VR capabilities through the VR@UPB team, fostering cross-departmental collaboration in emerging media technologies.
