About
Dr. Raj Prabhu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering at Mississippi State University's Bagley College of Engineering, where he also serves as the Biological Engineering Graduate Coordinator. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Mississippi State University in 2011.
His research focuses on three primary areas:
- Theoretical studies of dynamic deformation of soft biological materials under impact conditions
- Multiscale mechanical characterization of biomaterials
- Uncertainty analysis for irrigation modeling
Dr. Prabhu's publications demonstrate a strong focus on biomechanics, traumatic injury mechanisms, and bio-inspired design. His recent work explores head injury biomechanics, protective equipment design, tissue mechanics, and agricultural water management. He utilizes computational methods including finite element analysis and molecular dynamics simulations alongside experimental approaches.
As a graduate coordinator, Dr. Prabhu oversees academic programs and advises students in biological engineering. His research has been presented at numerous conferences including the Summer Biomechanics Conference and BMES Annual Meeting.
