Raj Narayan, MD, is a Professor and Associate Dean of Student Affairs in the School of Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). He holds dual board certifications in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Family Medicine. He joined MCW in 2005 after serving as an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.
Education: Earned his MD from Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (India, 1982). Completed residencies in Obstetrics & Gynecology (India, 1981–1985) and Family Medicine (Henry Ford Hospital, USA, 1994–1997), as well as a Clinical Research Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology (UK, 1991–1994).
Research focuses on environmental exposures in pregnancy, cervical cancer screening, medical education innovation, and robotic surgery. Notable projects include simulated patient training for residents and ultrasound skill evaluation using simulators.
Publications highlight advancements in transgender healthcare, residency interview methods, and gynecologic pathology. Awards include MCW’s Outstanding Medical Student Teacher (2009, 2010) and CREOG National Faculty Award.
He advises residents and medical students, emphasizing patient-centered communication and evidence-based practice. Fluent in English, Tamil, Hindi, and Malayalam.
