Dr. Raisa Sherif is a Senior Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance since 2021, specializing in Environmental Economics, Behavioral Economics, and Experimental Methods. She holds a PhD in Economics from the Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance and the Munich Graduate School of Economics (2015–2021), and an Integrated MA in Economics from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai, India (2009–2014). Her work bridges theoretical and applied research, often focusing on India’s socio-economic challenges and policy interventions.
Dr. Sherif’s research interests include understanding pro-environmental behaviors, intergenerational spillovers of environmental education, and experimental approaches to public policy. She has co-authored notable studies on voting dynamics and waste management strategies in urban settings. Her current projects, such as Sorting it Out: Reshaping Waste Management in Urban India, are in draft or data-collection phases.
She co-lectured the International Public Economics course in the winter semester 2016/2017 alongside Prof. Dr. Kai A. Konrad.
