Professor Rahul R. Nair is Research Area Lead for 2D Materials at the Royce Institute and holds a Carlsberg/Royal Academy of Engineering Research Chair. He serves as Professor of Materials Physics at the University of Manchester's National Graphene Institute, Henry Royce Institute, and Department of Chemical Engineering. He earned his MSc in Physics from Mahatma Gandhi University and PhD from the University of Manchester (2010), becoming Professor in 2016.
His research specializes in:

- Graphene and 2D material membranes
- Energy-efficient separation/filtration systems
- Nanoscale material behavior
