Rahmatollah AMIRJANI

Dr. Rahmatollah Amirjani is a Lecturer in Architecture at the University of Canberra's School of Design and Built Environment. He holds a PhD in Architecture (2019) from the same institution, supervised by Professor Gevork Hartoonian. His teaching spans building technologies, design studios, and architectural history/theory. Research interests include adaptive reuse, decarbonization, sustainability, housing historiography, and the interplay of tradition/modernity in architecture. Industrial projects focus on building lifecycle, prefabrication, circularity, and robotic construction.

Key research areas for PhD supervision include: building technologies (adaptive reuse, embodied carbon, modular design), architectural history (Iranian architecture, Canberra architecture, housing theories), and sustainable design strategies. He leads the Ad-Hoc and Sustainability co-funded industry stipends (UC & CIVION) project (2024–2027).

Amirjani’s work bridges academic and practical realms, addressing housing policies in Australia and developing nations, robotic construction, and green infrastructure. His recent publications explore topics like NCDC urban planning in Canberra, semi-public spaces in multi-unit housing, and 20th-century Iranian architectural history.
