Rachel Withers is a Reader in Art Writing at Bath Spa University's Bath School of Art, Film and Media, and co-founder of Oslo-based arts incubator PRAKSIS. She studied History of Art at the Courtauld Institute and Critical Fine Art Practice at Central St Martin’s School of Art and Design.

- Extensive contributions to Artforum International and other major publications
- Specializes in post-1980 art practice, time representations, and hermetic knowledge systems
Her research includes the Library of Marvels project examining Roman Signer's artistic practice through archival exploration. Recent publications include experimental artist interviews and critical reflections on the role of residencies in the international art world.

- Brown Foundation Fellowship at Maison Dora Maar (2012)
Withers contributes to institutional development through her trustee roles at the Gane Trust and former Board membership at Matt’s Gallery. She has edited multiple publications including Don't rest, narrate (2020) and How do we know? (2023), focusing on youth agency in arts institutions.
