Rachel Standish is an Adjunct Associate Professor at The University of Western Australia's Institute of Agriculture. Her work focuses on ecology and the practical application of restoration in native ecosystems. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Zoology from UWA and has conducted research at the University of Wollongong and Landcare Research in New Zealand. She joined Murdoch University in 2004 and became a UWA Research Fellow in 2009.
Her research expertise includes plant ecology, restoration ecology, old-field recovery, and invasive species management. Current projects involve large-scale restoration at UWA Future Farm, climate change resilience in jarrah forests, and fire as a restoration tool in degraded woodlands.
Her recent publications emphasize mycorrhizal dynamics, ecosystem resilience, and plant diversity impacts. She has secured grants from Bjarne K Dahl Trust, Alcoa World Alumina, and ARC-Linkage. She co-supervises five PhD students and has mentored multiple completed postgraduates.
