Rachel Rees serves as Associate Professor (Teaching) in the Language & Cognition department at University College London, where she has progressed from part-time tutor to her current academic role since joining full-time in 2002. She chairs the board of examiners for the MSc Speech and Language Sciences and teaches across multiple modules including SLAN0003, SLAN0004, and SLAN0005.
Her research focuses on Cued Speech interventions for deaf children's language development, communication strategies for families of pre-school deaf children, and psycholinguistic assessment of speech disorders. She leads a current project evaluating Cued Speech training for phoneme identification and serves on the Academic Advisory Council of the National Cued Speech Association in the US.
