Rachel Pogson is a Lecturer in Paramedic Science at Keele University's School of Medicine since 2022. She leads key modules across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including 'Introduction to Professional Practice for Paramedics,' 'Pharmacology and Medicines Management,' and 'Older Persons and Frailty.' As the Interprofessional Education (IPE) and Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) lead for the Paramedic Science programme, she champions collaborative and inclusive academic practices. She also serves as a Disability Inclusion Tutor and member of the School-Student Project Ethics Committee (S-SPEC).
Prior to Keele, Rachel was a Senior Lecturer at Edge Hill University, where she earned a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education (PGCTHE). Her clinical background includes roles as a paramedic with the North West Ambulance Service and London Ambulance Service, encompassing fieldwork, solo rapid-response deployments, and educator responsibilities for student paramedics. She contributed to a frailty pilot project, collaborating with physiotherapists and occupational therapists to improve care pathways for frailty-related emergencies.
Rachel holds a BSc (Hons) in Paramedic Science from the University of Hertfordshire (2015). Her expertise bridges clinical practice, education, and interdisciplinary healthcare innovation.
