Dr. Rachel Marsden is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the Sheffield Institute of Social Sciences, part of Sheffield Hallam University's College of Social Sciences and Arts. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Lincoln and a PhD. Her academic roles include teaching and leading courses in Biopsychology, Clinical Psychology, Health Psychology, and Developmental Psychology at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Her research focuses on food preferences, eating behaviors, and sensory processing in children with autism. Specific interests include nutritional intake in autistic children, complementary medicine use (e.g., gluten-free/casein-free diets), and obesity-related health psychology. She has contributed to studies on dehydration in elderly populations and parental decision-making regarding alternative therapies for autism.
Teaching responsibilities include modules on Developmental Psychology, Neuropsychology, and Eating Behaviours across BSc and MSc programs.
