Rachel Heist

Rachel Heist, MD, is a Captain in the U.S. Army and a Pediatrician at the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine, affiliated with the Department of Pediatrics and based at Darnall Army Medical Center, Ft Hood, TX. She holds a B.S. from Muhlenberg College (2016) and an MD from West Virginia University School of Medicine (2020), followed by a Pediatrics Residency at Madigan Army Medical Center (2023).

• Research Interests: Primary Care Pediatrics, focusing on pediatric healthcare delivery and adherence to treatment protocols.

Her publications reflect interdisciplinary work in pediatrics and medical entomology, with studies on childhood cancer survivorship and tick-borne pathogens in eastern Pennsylvania. Despite her association with clinical practice, her research contributions span public health, infectious disease surveillance, and pediatric oncology.

• Career Highlights: Served as a MAP Field Surgeon for 1-7 CAV, 1CD, and conducted a 4-year survey on ticks and tick-borne diseases.
