Rachel Gregor is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering. She leads the Microbial Chemical Ecology Lab and is affiliated with the BioZone Centre for Applied Bioscience and Bioengineering. Her research bridges microbiology, chemistry, and ecology to engineer microbial communities through their chemical interactions.
- B.Sc. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Ben-Gurion University
- Postdoctoral research at MIT
Her work focuses on untargeted metabolomics, environmental microbiology, and microbiome engineering, with applications in drug discovery, marine carbon cycling, and sustainable biotechnology. Current projects include high-throughput mapping of marine bacterial metabolite production and studying metabolic regulation of polysaccharide degradation.
