Rachel F. Gomez is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Foundations of Education at Virginia Commonwealth University's School of Education, with additional affiliation at the Institute for Inclusion, Inquiry, and Innovation (iCubed). As a first-generation Chicana scholar, her research examines race/ethnicity in K-20 education, participatory action research, and sociopolitical contexts affecting Latinx and Black communities.
Her publications focus on critical race theory applications in education policy, whiteness studies, and youth critical consciousness development. Current projects include a book manuscript on healing relationships in academia that examines institutional factors in academic achievement and racial dynamics.
