Raúl Rubio

Raúl Rubio is an Associate Professor of Hispanic Studies and Chair of Languages at The New School. His research focuses on Cuban visual and material cultures, comparative literature, film, and graphic and decorative arts, grounded in the interdisciplinary field of material culture.

• Education: PhD in Latin American Literature and Cultural Studies from Tulane University; MA in Spanish from Middlebury College's School in Madrid.

Rubio's work examines artifacts from cultural commodities to museum archives. He teaches courses such as Foundations of Gender Studies, Latinx Media, and Spanish Caribbean Culture, reflecting his expertise in Latinx and Caribbean studies, gender studies, and media analysis.
