ROSA ANA GUERRA PESTONIT

Rosa Ana Guerra Pestoni is a Researcher at the Department of Agroforestry Engineering within the Higher Technical School of Engineering. She holds a PhD from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (2012), with a thesis titled “Domes and Countertops of the Colegio de Nuestra Señora de la Antigua de Monforte de Lems: Geometry, Construction and Mechanics”, supervised by Dr. Santiago Huerta Fernández.

Her research focuses on structural analysis of historical architectural elements, particularly vault systems and their mechanics in churches and academic buildings. Key areas include stability assessment, geometric restoration of deformed structures, and material behavior in heritage conservation. She has conducted studies on iconic structures like the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela’s baroque cupola and the grand staircase of Monforte de Lemos’ Colegio del Cardenal.

Her work integrates engineering principles with historical preservation, addressing challenges in load distribution, material decay, and structural reinforcement strategies. She contributed to PROEPLA (Projects and Planning group) and has collaborated on restoration projects for monuments in Betanzos, Quito, and Palma de Mallorca.
