R. David Britt is a Winston Ko Chair, Distinguished Professor, and Department Chair in the Department of Chemistry at the University of California, Davis. He operates the CalEPR Center, the largest EPR facility on the West Coast, housing six advanced instruments.
- Education: B.S. (1978) and M.A./Ph.D. (1980) from University of California, Berkeley
- Appointments: UC Davis since 1989
Research Interests focus on structure-function relationships of redox-active metalloenzymes. Key work includes studying the oxygen-evolving complex of photosystem II, FeFe hydrogenases, and manganese-binding enzymes using EPR spectroscopy to elucidate catalytic mechanisms and metal coordination environments.
Scientific Awards include:
- Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (2019)
- Bioinorganic Chemistry Award (2019)
- Zavoisky Award (2018)
- Gold Medal, International EPR Society (2014)
